Actor, comedian and singer Charles Esten was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1965. He is perhaps most well-known for his appearances on the improvisation show Whose Line Is It Anyway? in the early 90s, under the name Chip Esten. After Whose Line, he moved on to appearances on The Drew Carey Show, in improvisation comedy tours and in movies like 61*, The Postman, Thirteen Days, and Swing Vote.
Esten has appeared in a variety of television shows, including Cheers, Star Trek: Voyager, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, JAG, Married… with Children, and Just Shoot Me!. More recently, he has appeared in The Office, ER, NCIS: Los Angeles, Wilfred, and Nashville.
Esten has released two singles off the soundtrack of the show Nashville, one with co-star Hayden Panettiere, “Undermine,” and one with co-star Connie Britton, “No One Will Ever Love You.” Both singles reached the Top 100 on the Country charts.
