Splish and Splash
This 3-4 hour river tour will get you out on the water so you can see the beautiful Colorado River in a whole new way. You will be picked up at your hotel in Moab and driven up scenic byway 128, while your knowledgeable tour guide points out historical and interesting sites. Once you get to the river, you will go over river safety and take an introductory lesson on paddle boarding. When your guide is confident that you know the basics, you will get out onto the river to practice your new skills.
Your guide will lead you through the river as you play in the 3-4 sets of small waves. About halfway into your trip you will rest at a sandy beach and take in the beauty of the red sandstone cliffs rising around you. Then it’s back in the water for more fun as you splash your way up the river. Please note that you must be at least 10 years old to participate in this activity. A minimum of 2 people per booking is required.
In paddle boarding, you will propel yourself on a board through the water using a paddle. It first became popular in the U.S. in Hawaii in the 1900s. Since then, paddle boarding has become a serene way for people to connect with nature while seeking adventure.
Your guide will pick you up right from your hotel in Moab. Just a short drive up Scenic Byway 128, your guide will be able to point out arches, historical sites and many other points of interest prior to arriving to the starting point of the tour.
At the put in, your guide will talk about all aspects of river safety, followed by an introductory lesson on river paddle boarding. Once comfortable, hop into the river and practice your new skills. With a guide in the lead, you will experience the river in a whole new way. You will be surrounded by red sandstone cliffs, feeling the waves of the Colorado River beneath you.
Overall, the trip is 6 miles and there is a large, soft, sandy beach located about halfway into the trip to stop, take a break and relax. The same van that picked you up will be waiting at the take out. While the guide is loading the gear, you can take it easy and enjoy a well-deserved snack.
