Pedal and soar through the back country of the canyons around the Colorado River with this combination tour that brings a whole new aspect to the thrills of mountain biking! The day begins early as you're driven to the head of the Shafer Trail as you prepare to take on the White Rim Trail, both of which are rugged, winding trails that offer spectacular views of the canyons, river, and wildlife of the back country. Proficiency in mountain biking is important for this expedition. Purchase a sack lunch from Tag and it will be waiting for you down at the bottom of Lathrop Canyon when you get there. In the afternoon, you'll board a thrilling high-speed jet boat for a 25-mile ride up the Colorado River!
Canyonlands National Park is famous for its spectacular scenery, ancient geological wonders, endearing wildlife, and other natural beauty. You'll see plenty of all of these incredible features along both the bike trail and the jet boat ride. In fact, the jet boat will stop briefly to explore an area with petrified wood.
If you don't have your own mountain bike to bring with you, there are rental bikes available for an additional fee at a local bike rental company. Bikes must be reserved ahead of time. Make sure you bring at least 1-2 liters of water per person to keep you hydrated on the long excursion, and either pack a picnic lunch or plan to purchase one at Lathrop Canyon during your lunch break.
