Located in Los Angeles, CA the Los Angeles Zoo provides entertainment and learning for the whole family. Founded in 1966, the current zoo replaced the old Griffith Park Zoo that was located just a few miles away. You may see remnants of the old zoo that are still visible on your way to tour the many exhibits of the Los Angeles Zoo.
There are more than 1,100 animals containing over 250 different species. You could see anything form lions and elephants to gorillas and zebras. The zoo also houses 29 endangered species. Stop by the Children's Discovery Center or visit the Sea Lion Cliffs. You may also want to visit one of the largest Chimpanzee tribes of any North American Zoo. If you like the tropics then you are sure to enjoy one of the newest exhibits, the Rainforest of the Americas, where you can catch a glimpse of hundreds of tropical animals.
As you trek the paths of exhibits sitting on 133 acres be sure to stop by the Botanicals that contains over 7,400 individual plants. If you want more than just a typical day at the zoo be sure to check the calendar for the dates of the many events hosted. Some events include safaris, family slumbers, and live shows. Charge your cameras and load up the kids for a fun filled day or if you choose an overnight slumber.
