Take this fantastic 3 1/2 tour of Thoroughbred racing horse farms. get a look at what it takes to raise and take care of a prize winner horse. You will pass by the world famous Calumet horse farm, which is a 724 acre thoroughbred breeding and training farm, that was established in 1924. It has produced a record number of Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown winner, which is why it is not open to the public. They don't want competitors knowing their secrets to success.
You will get to stop at two other farms though. The excitement will boil up inside you, as you watch these magnificent animals being trained, and possibly run the tracks. The sheer muscles and beauty will make you fall in love with each one. You will get to see all ages of these horses, weanlings, yearlings, hopefully newborn foals, and even those who have retired to live their lives in luxury out on the farms.
As you walk through the barns, you will be amazed at the cleanliness of each stall and the barn. There are no costs spared for these horses. You will also get to visit Historic Keeneland Race Course which was established in 1936. Imagine being one of the patrons when she first opened her doors and everyone heard the thunder of the hooves for the first time. Our Horse Farm Tour gives its guests a close-up look at the world's premier Thoroughbred horse farms. You can expect to spend approximately 3- hours with your tour guide visiting horse farms, Historic Keeneland Race Course and other attractions in the area. Every tour includes a drive by Calumet, two farms including a walk through one of the region's modern barns, plus a tour of Keeneland Race Course. Tours depart from several area hotels.
We offer a complete and comfortable tour with knowledgeable guides. We strive to make your visit to the Horse Capital of the World a part of the great Thoroughbred tradition. We want to leave a lasting impression of this experience by taking you inside the plank fences and down the shady lanes of Central Kentucky. You will see horses after their racing careers are over, in-foal broodmares, weanlings, yearlings and depending upon the time of year, newborn foals. Our tour is unique in that we offer a glimpse into the daily procedures of working farms. You will have an opportunity to walk through the modern barns and You don't even have to clean a stall!
