2. History of the Territory

The Gila River Indian Community is a federally recognized tribe in the Southwest United States, located in an area they call Gila Bend. This community straddles the border between the city of Douglas in Cochise County and the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in Santa Cruz County. The Hualapai and Hopi people founded it in 1865. Initially, these tribes were the landowners of what is now known as the Grand Canyon. Despite having lived there for more than 1,000 years, they were not allowed to reside within the massive canyon until 1974, when Congress passed a bill allowing for land exchanges and resettlement of two tribes who were living outside of their respective reservations.

The Grand Canyon Sunset Tours has been operating since 2009, offering its guests an unforgettable experience every time. They have a fleet of tours that are the best in the business and serve many passengers each year. They offer daily tours by airlift, 4x4, and ATV to accommodate our guests' needs. They beat their competitors with their customer service, making booking your trip or buying a package quick.
