California Desert, Seven Magic Mountains and Las Vegas Sign
Our desert adventure has been a great experience. We saw many amazing sites and landscapes. It's a great area to visit, with extreme weather and many lands that have yet to be taken over by humans.A four-hour drive west of Los Angeles, the 30,000-acre Mojave Desert is home to hundreds of species of tough plants and animals. Its massive expanses starkly contrast with the urbanized world they seem to share. For example, visiting people won't find lush green leaves or any other greenery - just huge dry trees that offer shade from the heat and avoid water loss.
We are staying in the desert in our very own tent. It's a beautiful green tent and so much fun to sleep in the desert. The only problem is that we need water, but not too much. We have enough water to drink and refill our canteen with fresh water that is free of chemicals. This canteen can hold 4 liters of water, which lasts six days or two weeks depending on how much we drink when we walk or swim in the canyons.
We are not afraid of the wild animals in the desert. They are nocturnal, and we will sleep inside our tent at night. The only birds in this area are doves and ravens, a delicious meal for coyotes. Since we will be staying in our campsite every day, wildlife attacks are less dangerous.
In this desert, there are no gas stations. Instead, there are truck stops. They are great places to fill up your water and the canisters to make a fire. We don't have any showers or baths, but our trailer has a jacuzzi tub which we use at night after our bath.
We get plenty of water from rain and creeks. The water is not completely clean, but it is enough to drink and fill our tanks. We use the plastic bag method of making a container, which makes us feel quite safe in the desert. After several days, we make wood fires daily to cook our food, so the inside of the trailer gets quite warm.
Our desert adventure has been a great experience. We saw many amazing sites and landscapes. It's a great area to visit, with extreme weather and many lands that have yet to be taken over by humans.

Internationally renowned Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone's Seven Magic Mountains is a large-scale site-specific public art installation located near Jean Dry Lake and Interstate 15, approximately ten miles south of Las Vegas, Nevada. Comprised of seven towers of colorful, stacked boulders standing more than thirty feet high, Seven Magic Mountains is situated within the Ivanpah Valley adjacent to Sheep Mountain and the McCullough, Bird Spring, and Goodsprings ranges of mountains. A creative expression of human presence in the desert, Seven Magic Mountains punctuates the Mojave with a poetic burst of form and color.

Stop At: Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign, 5100 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89119-3232
The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign is a Las Vegas landmark funded in May 1959 and erected soon after by Western Neon. The sign was designed by Betty Willis at the request of Ted Rogich, a local salesman, who sold it to Clark County, Nevada.
The sign is located in the median at 5100 Las Vegas Boulevard South, north of the historic stone pillars of the old McCarran Field on the east side, and across from the Bali Hai Golf Club and the (closed) Klondike Hotel and Casino on the west side. Some consider the sign to be the official southern end of the Las Vegas Strip. The sign, like most of the Strip, sits in Paradise and is located roughly 4 miles (6.4 km) south of the actual city limits of Las Vegas. Such distinctions are usually ignored by both locals and tourists, who refer to the entire metro area as "Las Vegas".
