Bryce Canyon is a massive canyon carved out by the Colorado River over millions of years. The area was once covered with ancient forests and home to Native American tribes before a series of natural phenomenons tore the place apart. The park was created in 1928 by President Calvin Coolidge, who named it after renowned American geologist, William “W.S.” Bryce.

The park is divided into two central regions: the main arena and the eastern section. The western section of Bryce Canyon includes the Rim Trail, Queen’s Garden, Navajo Loop, and Rainbow Point. Several foot trails follow ancient Native American footpaths that lead to some of the best vantage points in the area.

The eastern section contains such formations as Wire Pass, Peekaboo Loop, and Bristlecone Wilderness. Here you will be able to see Hoodoos, which are tall spires of rock formed by water erosion and frost wedging. Although these can be seen from any part of Bryce Canyon, one of the best places to view them is along the East Rim Trail.
