Travel in style with a city tour around the area on Tuesdays, making stops at all the top sights, including Emerald Bay, Rubicon Point, and Sand Harbor.
South of Lake Tahoe in California's Emerald Bay State Park, Emerald Bay sparkles like a jewel in the meandering valley, and is one of the most photographed vicinity on earth.
The area houses the impressively stunning Eagle Falls, and the often visited Vikingsholm Castle, a 38-room mansion built by Lora Josephine Knight. The spacious home is of the American Craftsman style with a roof made sod. Springtime visitors will delight at the wildflowers sprouting from the mansions rooftop.
Emerald Bay is a National Natural Landmark, and proudly holds the title of the only island in Lake Tahoe, Fannette Island, which was home to the Knight's Tea House and remains of it still exist there.
This dramatic setting affords adventurers a warm beachside shore and swimming area, and in 1994 was designated an Under Water State Park, preserving the wreckage of boats and barges that lie on the floor of the Bay.
Vivid panoramic views and dazzling sunsets combine with granite peaks, and sandy shore at this natural treasure.
