About the Audubon House

The 1840s residence was built by Captain John Huling Geiger, becoming his and his family's beloved home for more than a century. Throughout the building, guests will be able to see the furniture and decor that was common with Key West's wealthiest 1800s citizens. The house, although owned by Captain Geiger, was named after the artist John James Audubon. He was a French merchant who was interested in art and culture. His most beloved subjects were birds and tropical animals. His artwork is loved by many and is entrancing with amazing tropical birds and imported plants.
About the Tropical Garden
As the inspiration for Audubon's beautiful artistry, the Tropical Gardens became home to imported plants and birds. The gardens are absolutely gorgeous featuring blossoming flowers, palm trees, and tropical flair that is popular for social events, weddings, and more.
