The Thomas Edison National Park is a fascinating museum containing the largest amount of Thomas Edison artifacts and archives. The museum consists of several buildings once known as Edison's laboratory, along with his family residence and estate. It is located near Jackson in West Orange, New Jersey.

The museum features three impressive collections. The history collection, which is found mainly in the laboratory complex, consists of many amazing artifacts, some of which include, laboratory equipment, Edison memorabilia, rare books, and even historic plant specimens. As you move further through the park, you will notice the interesting landscape and architecture of Glenmont Estate, once purchased and managed by Thomas Edison. On this estate sits his 29 room Victorian mansion that holds the Glenmont collections. These consist of an impressive collection of art, historic furnishings, and a more private example of Edison memorabilia.

If you find yourself in the New Jersey area, spending an afternoon at this amazing and culturally informative National Park is well worth it. If you enjoy the study of historic science in this country, a ranger-guided tour of the laboratory will be sure to spark your interest. The fee to get in is just $10 per person, with the money going to help preserve the park. The park is perfect for a school field trip or anyone with an interest in a brilliant and inventive historic figure, such was Thomas Edison.
