Embassy Suites Alexandria – Old Town Embassy Suites by Hilton Alexandria Old Town is near Downtown Washington, DC, where there are many attractions within two miles such as the; Torpedo Factory Art Center located 1.2 miles from the hotel where you can enjoy a fun art walk and meet artists, Ten Thousand Villages is another great place less than a mile away with eclectic and unique items, and then for something a little more spooky there is the Old Town Alexandria Haunted Bar Tour, which is a 2.5-hour tour lead by a guide with a costume who allows time for a drink or two while listening and learning about some history and haunted places and is all located within the town of Alexandria. When traveling it’s a good idea to check out all of the hotel amenities available and here at the Embassy in Old Town is a large indoor pool kept heated at 84 degrees, a hot tub is also available from 10 am-10 pm, and the fitness center is open 24 hours, plus it’s a pet-friendly location with the maximum weight of 100 pounds per pet. Breakfast is a variety of hot and cold choices and some are made to order like eggs and waffles, plus evening drinks such as beer and wine are included along with snacks all starting at 5 pm. A couple of other local activities that would be worth going to see are the historic George Washington Masonic Temple, which is about a five-minute walk, and the Great Waves Water Park is only 2.1 miles away. All hotels have amenities and there are some standard amenities included in all the rooms such as a coffee maker, microwave, mini-refrigerator, Internet connection, phone, tv, hairdryers, iron and ironing board, alarm clock, MP3 connection, self-laundry, sofa bed, and kitchenettes. Room service is usually an amenity that is included but is not available at this time but, if a request is made for a specific day or each day the entire stay to have some cleaning and changing out of old towels and sheets that can be arranged but only upon request and parking is not an amenity but is available as needed. It’s real easy to just ask to have new sheets and towels brought to the room plus more coffee and cups, otherwise, the front desk can assist with that. The bed size and room size would be the only difference and most rooms sleep either four or six people. A two-room balcony suite comes with two double beds and a sofa, which can sleep up to six people and has a view of the courtyard, and the two-room premium suite with two double beds comes with two HDTVs. All room amenities are the same, but some of the other rooms without a balcony have a metro view also known as a city view. There are some fantastic local restaurants worth trying in the neighborhood such as; Barca Pier & Wine known as the newest riverfront restaurant only 1.4 miles away and serves Mediterranean, Greek, Italian, and Moroccan flavors yum! And just a six-minute drive or 1.6 miles from the hotel is the Evening Star Cafe, a great place to have brunch with great selections like corn beef hash with chili, Bloody Mary’s or their famous breakfast smash burger, but if you’re looking for something a little more familiar then there is the famous Chart House with panoramic waterfront views and some of the best mouthwatering seafood around that might bring in a little of the exotic flavors. After eating all that good food a quick drive to the North about 22 minutes is the awesome local Capital One Arena for a little fun at a concert or whatever event is happening, and a little shopping at some great stores like Boogie’s Boutique, The Lucky Knot for clothing, and accessories, Old Town Books, Twist Boutique and the Shoe Hive are all local within two miles. Consignment stores, cosmetics, and mid-century modern style places like The Hour Cocktail Collection for creative cocktail glassware that both men and women might like along with antique stores and stores for kids such as Hooray for Books, which speaks for itself or Pink and Brown a children’s clothing store.
