The Harborside Hotel is a city hotel located right in the center of the town, just one minute's walk to the central station. The ten-story building was thoroughly renovated and had a new reception area with 24-hour check-in, an internet service point, and a vending machine that sells snacks and drinks at very reasonable prices. Furthermore, I was delighted to find that they have a public Wi-Fi internet connection. The tatami-style rooms here are divided into smoking and non-smoking and contain a simple but fully functional en suite bathroom with a toilet and shower, a TV, and air conditioning. Additionally, the hotel has a bar, sauna, and bathhouse located on the 5th floor and the hotel's restaurant on the 7th floor. The local business community frequents this hotel, so it's common to find people of the same company in the same room or on the same floor. I didn't find this strange at all. This hotel charges us night during peak season, with a night tatami charge. This may be less expensive than other hotels in town, but it is still fairly expensive. Note: So make sure to book a room at the Harborside Hotel when you arrive. I ordered yakisoba, and the staff brought me a pair of chopsticks instead of using one of their own. You may wish to tip the team here if you have any food left over from your lunch. My friend ordered a western-style hot dog and a small drink. Again, be sure to tip the staff for their service. This is a good place to stay if you're traveling around Hakata Station. I would come here if I had to stay in Hakata for any time and have nothing better to do.
