The Georgetown area of Washington, D.C. is one of the oldest communities in the nation. Predating the founding of the country’s capital city, Georgetown is awash with history spanning over 250 years of American culture. This tour not only shows you that history but lets you taste it as well. The Small-Group Tastes of Georgetown Walking Tour is a great way to spend the day making new friends and filling both stomachs and minds with new things. Limited to eight people, this tour is 3.5 hours long and has a very intimate feel.
Your experience begins at the corner of Dean and Deluca, your guide will be waiting to meet you at a nearby restaurant. The exact location where you will get started will be printed on your ticket after booking. Once everyone has gathered, you will sit down for the first tasting. The tour guide will share some stories and inform you of the unique history of Georgetown, which few realize actually predates the founding of Washington, D.C. Each of the next four stops along your route will share a new chapter of the area's history presented in the universal language of food.
Each culture that has had an impact on the development of Washington D.C as we know will be represented. You will explore the neighborhood as well as the history of the area through the foods that have been a part of its fabric since the early days. At the end of your experience, your guide will be happy to provide you with directions to where you need to go. Hopefully, you have made some new friends and a lot of great memories.
Please arrive at your first location 15 minutes prior to start time to check in. There is a minimum booking of 2 participants for this activity. Should you book for a single person and there are not enough participants booked for the tour 24 hours ahead of the start time, you will be given a full refund of your activity price. While well behaved children are welcome to participate in this activity and enjoy food, minimum drinking age is by law 21 years old regardless of cultural norms. A valid government issues photo IS is needed to drink, no exceptions. Adult pricing applies to all participants regardless of age or if they will be drinking or not. A vegetarian accommodation can be easily made, sorry it is not possible at this time to accommodate vegan lifestyle. Accommodations can be made for food sensitivities and allergies as well as for those who need Kosher or Halal options. Sorry at this time gluten-free lifestyles cannot be accommodated. Please let the tour operator know what your specific needs are at the time of booking. While children under three are welcome they will not need a ticket if they are not eating with the group. You are welcome to purchase food for these young children separately at locations if you like. This activity is wheelchair and mobility issue accessible, please let the tour operator know what your needs are when you book your activity. Electronic and paper tickets are both accepted for this tour. This tour does operate in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately for seasonal weather in the city. Should the tour be canceled due to severe weather or exceptionally heavy snow, you will be given the choice of a full refund or an alternate date/time. Please check ahead with the tour operator should heavy snow or heavy rain be in the forecast. A moderate amount of walking is needed for this activity so please wear comfortable shoes. Price does not include gratuity for your tour guide. Hotel pick-up and drop off are not included in the activity price.

The tour will stop at approximately four restaurants during the three-hour tour. Between food tastings at the restaurants, your guide will stop and share the unique history of the Georgetown neighborhood along the way. We provide more than just a sampling of random delicious bites; our guides use the tastings we offer to help tell the story of the neighborhood that you explore with us.
Please note that this tour ends at the last restaurant stop. Your guide will be happy to help you if you need directions to your hotel or to the next thing on your DC itinerary.
