Learn the history of Prohibition and how cocktails played its part in making our country what it is today while on this DC Craft Cocktail Evening Tour. DC culture would not be the same without the invention of cocktails. Our first president had the largest distillery in the entire country. Learn about Prohibition and how cocktails are part of DC's long history.

The knowledgeable guide will lead the way through the streets of DC talking about prohibition and the history of cocktails. The tour will last for two and a half-hours and will start at the Indiana Plaza. See the Temperance Fountain which was given to DC to show support for Prohibition. Next, visit some of the best cocktail bars DC has to offer. Relax and try some signature cocktails, talk to the bartenders, and even learn how to make some of their favorite cocktails. The guide will take the group underground to an authentic DC speakeasy. The final stop is a penthouse to enjoy the view of the city below.

Hopefully, after the tour is complete, there will be a new appreciation for that favorite cocktail. DC has a long history when it comes to alcohol steaming all the way back to George Washington to the craft breweries of today. Grab a friend or date and make of evening of learning a different side of Washington, DC.

Cocktails have been a major part of DC culture since the very beginning — George Washington even owned the largest distillery in the country! Join us as we explore the history of prohibition and cocktails in DC and learn how alcohol helped shape this country.

Your DC cocktail tour will start in Indiana Plaza, the site of the famous Temperance Fountain gifted to DC to show support for Prohibition. From there, we'll take you to visit three of DC's best cocktail bars where we'll sample drinks, meet the people behind the bars, and learn how their craft cocktails are made.

We'll take you underground to a classic, underground DC speakeasy, to the penthouse for a breathtaking view of the city and everywhere in between.

Along the way, you'll uncover how cocktails have played a massive part in DC's history, learn how Prohibition shaped the city, and discover the local distilling movement that's returning. By the time you're done, you'll never look at cocktails in quite the same way.

"Nema was great."
Nema was great. This was our best tour we took the whole vacation. It was cold but he was still willing to take us around and show us the town. My husband is a history lover and nema knew a lot of information! I wish we could have scheduled this tour 2 nights in a row and tried different places both nights. We have never been to the city and don’t venture out on our own to much at night. So to have a guide was awesome!
