Fill two whole days with gorgeous views and new learning experiences while you uncover the beauty and history behind the multitude of memorials, museums and monuments.

With this tour, guests may choose to take the tour days consecutively or separately. Touring Washington, you begin at Union Station where you board your coach and meet the enthusiastic driver. Sights, such as the J. Edgar Hoover Building and Washington Monument, can be viewed through the coach windows and stops are made for pictures at sites such as the Martin Luther King Memorial. In the afternoon, enjoy lunch while you tour the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum or the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and then meet back up with the coach to return to Union Station.

The second piece of the tour takes guests on a coach ride from Union Station to Mt. Vernon, the gorgeous plantation home of George Washington. Guests will tour Christ Church in Alexandria and enjoy lunch. After lunch, guests will be escorted by tram to the Arlington National Cemetery, where the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and other sights are toured. End the day with a ride back to Union Station.

Begin each day of your tour at Union Station; DC tour departs at 9am, Virginia tour departs at 8am. You may decide which tour to do first; you don't even have to take the tours on consecutive days.  Please note that tours operate Tuesday through Saturday only.  Tours do not need to be taken on consecutive days.

White House, US Capitol and Smithsonian Tour

Board your comfortable coach at Union Station, and listen to your driver share stories about the history of Washington DC and facts about its plethora of monuments, museums and memorials. Feel free to ask any questions you might have as you travel around the city.

See the Washington Monument, Tidal Basin and J Edgar Hoover building (FBI headquarters) from your coach, and make photo stops at various sights including the National WWII Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr Memorial and White House. Walk around the White House Visitor Center to learn what the inside of the US President's home looks like. Learn about the inner workings of the US government on your tour of the US Capitol.

Spend the afternoon at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum or the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, where you can take a lunch break (own expense). Explore the massive collections at these spectacular museums on your own until it's time to meet your coach for your return to Union Station.

Please note: Access is to the White House Visitor Center only. Tours of the White House must be arranged through your Congressional representative.

Mount Vernon and Afternoon Tram Tour

In the morning, travel by coach from Union Station to Virginia to visit Mount Vernon, the elegant plantation home of George Washington. At the Donald W Reynolds Museum and Education Center, learn about the life of the first US president through interactive displays, short films and hundreds of personal effects. Also, in nearby Alexandria you'll visit Christ Church, an 18th-century church that has been visited by several US presidents. Enjoy lunch in Old Town Alexandria (own expense).

In the afternoon, board a tram to Arlington National Cemetery, where thousands of soldiers who fought in US wars are laid to rest. Visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and watch the Third United States Infantry Regiment perform the poignant Changing of the Guard ceremony. Your narrated tram tour will also take you to the graves of President John F Kennedy and his brother, Robert F Kennedy.
