Your day starts with hotel pick up in Keystone or Rapid City. If you decide to do so, you can also meet at the National Presidental Wax Museum in Keystone. Once you leave, the first stop is Mount Rushmore. You will have one hour here to explore and ask any questions. You'll be guided through with your small tour group to get valuable information. Next, you'll be transported to Crazy Horse Memorial. You will have one hour here as well. Explore the artifacts, gift shop, and watch the short informational video to learn the history of Crazy Horse. The tour group will then head to Sylvan Lake in Custer State Park. You'll have a picnic lunch beside the lake and you'll have a few minutes to explore the area before heading to the next stop.
Next, you'll be driven along the narrow highway known as The Needles. This road offers abundant picture opportunities as you travel through the narrow, one-way tunnels. After the drive up the mountain, you'll stop at Mount Coolidge, the highest point in the South Hills. You'll have about twenty mins to snap pictures and soak in the greenery and fresh air. After your photo-taking, you'll have an 18-mile ride along Wildlife Loop Road in Custer State Park. You'll see buffalo, deer, antelope, elk, prairie dogs, and more wildlife here. You can stand in the bus to get great photos outside of the vehicle, making use of the open top. Next, the tour stops at Custer State Park Visitor Center where you can read information about the park and browse a multitude gifts. On the ride back to Keystone, the tour travels along Iron Mountain Road for more great photo opportunities. The pathway is home to more one-way tunnels and pig tail bridges.
