Located in Pigeon Forge, TN Dollywood is centered at the base of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Dollywood is a family-friendly theme park that hosts five of the south's largest festivals including Summer Lives Here.
When summer is in full swing Dollywood presents their festival Summer Lives Here. The festival adds two additional shows to Dollywood's already impressive lineup. The first is Brad Ross' Unbelievable Magic Show that takes audience participation and mixes it with comedy and illusions. The second show they add is Chris Perondi' Stunt Dog Experience, where they showcase some extra cute pooches, that have all been rescued from shelters across the nation, doing some pretty serious tricks. During Summer Lives Here Dollywood offers extended park hours and keep the roller coasters available to ride after dark. They end the night with Dolly's Night of Many Colors, an explosive synchronized firework show lighting up the night sky.
Previous to 1986 Dollywood was named Silver Dollar City, opened by the Herschend brothers. In 1986 famous country music singer Dolly Parton became partners with the Herschend brothers and lent the park not only her name but became the face and spokesperson behind the park. Since reopening in 1986 with the new name Dollywood it has doubled in size to 150 acres and is the most visited tourist attraction in Tennessee.
