Known for the numerous outcrops and granite sections formed thousands of years ago, Angels Rock is a popular hiking area due to the breathtaking scenery that surrounds it. You'll be amazed at the rock walls towering high above your head as Angel Creek Valley spans out at your feet. You'll find many delightful locations to take amazing pictures and relax in some of natures most beautiful settings. Once you reach the top you'll find yourself roughly 1.8 miles from the trail head which runs along the edge of the ridge. You'll enjoy stunning views over the valley and the delightful river that cuts its way through the rocks. Along the way your professional and knowledgeable guide will point out important landmarks and features as well as teach you about this unique ecosystem. Natural wonders aren't the only interesting thing to find in the area, tours often run across wildlife including grouse. both black and grizzly bears, moose and beavers.
This tour requires reservations in advance of the tour. Guests of this tour can enjoy hotel pick up and drop off. Departure time for this activity is 9am. Guests will be treated to snacks and beverages along the way. A professional guide will accompany each tour to point out landmarks and sights as well as prevent people from getting lost. Guests who suffer from heart conditions or other serious medical conditions should not perform this activity. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. The 3.5 mile loop leads through amazing rock formations. Starting at the trail head parking lot the hike leads us along the Chena River. After passing a small stream over mossy rocks, the trail climbs uphill winding past a large valley overlooking tor. The trail is wide and maintained at the beginning eventually turning into a typical footpath, well marked with rock cairns.
Angel Rock is famous for its many rock outcrops and granite tors which were formed over thousands and thousands of years and tower over the Angel Creek Valley offering wonderful vistas and a place to catch your breath and take pictures. At the top, 1.8 miles from the trail head, the trail runs along the ridge. The area around the rocks is pleasant, the stunning view from Angel Rocks down into the Angel Creek Valley is gorgeous, the ridge that follows Chena Dome Trail is just fantastic. We will have ample time and opportunities to do some exploring of the area and learn about the ecosystem.
There is always a good chance to spot wildlife such as beavers, grouse, moose, black- or grizzly bears just to name a few (please note, not guaranteed).
