Franklin Cider Mill, located at 7450 Franklin Road in Bloomfield Hills Michigan is a one stop attraction offering food, fun, and a scenic location. The mill is open from the first Sunday before Labor Day, until the first Sunday after Thanksgiving, am till 6:30 pm on weekdays, and 8 am till 6:30 pm on weekends.
Along with their cider and donuts; apples, baked goods, jams, and pumpkins are also available for purchase. One can learn a little of the mill's history, or sit by the beautiful stream and enjoy their cider and donuts.
Completed in 1837, the mill has changed hands several times in the last 100 years. The mill was started by Ed W. Matthews, and finally purchased by Jack Peltz in 1966. Two years later, a large flood took out a section of road the mill stands on, which was later fixed, but the power from the water wheel was lost. That same year modern electricity was installed and the mill is still owned by the Peltz family today.
During the fall months, make sure to stop in for a visit and enjoy some delicious cider and hot donuts. The Cider Mill is located in a gorgeous quaint section of Bloomfield Hills. Take in the beautiful fall colors and browse the village shops just a short walk down the street. Upon leaving the mill, visit The Maple Theater less than a mile and a half away on Maple road, or stop in to Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum on on Orchard Lake in Farmington, less than 3 miles from the mill.
