Canyon Run Paddle Raft Whitewater Rafting
The Canyon Run Whitewater rafting trip takes you through the canyon on multiple difficulties and shots of water. You must come to the trip if you are a novice or experienced, and you are given all the gear and help you need.
The people who are on the trip are fitted with the correct whitewater rafting gear, or you could bring your own. Everyone is given a safety briefing, and the raft is set off on one of many parts of the river. You must ask the people on the tour which level of difficulty you are on, and they help you plan to ride safely.
You might only want to take one ride a day, or you could take many rides if you are up to it. The people who are on the tour get to learn a little bit of the history of the river, and you learn from the best of the best on the runs down the river. They have picked out many spots, and you can plan to ride all day if you want.
The history of this river is amazing because people used to take wooden boats down here at their peril, and now you can ride the same places they did long ago without even a thought. The rafting team has all the gear you need, and they make this as safe as possible.
You can schedule your river rafting time right now, and you show up at the appointed time ready to ride. It all depends on what you want, and you start having a lovely time when you sit down with new friends and the people you love.
Your adventure begins at one of two conveniently located offices: Mile 238.9 Parks Highway in Denali Park or Mile 1/2 Otto Lake Road in Healy. You will check in with our friendly office staff who will have you sign our Acknowledgement of Risk form. The next step involves getting into one of our custom made drysuits. These drysuits have a latex neck, latex wrists and waterproof zipper to ensure maximum protection from the glacial water. These drysuits do no insulate you, so we require that you dress in warm, long sleeved layers and warm socks underneath the drysuit for comfort and hygiene. Once outfitted, you will be taken to the river by van or bus, where you will receive a safety talk from the trip leader.
During this 2 Hour whitewater adventure expect to encounter over 10 major Class III to IV rapids in the Nenana River Canyon! The Denali National Park frontier will be the setting on your river left shore with Mt. Healy rising over 3,000 feet to the summit. Exciting wave-trains and powerful hydraulics will create rapids like 'Razorback,' 'Iceworm,' 'Cable Car,' 'Royal Flush,' and 'Coffee Grinder!'
