The US Air Force Academy that is located in Colorado Springs is a training facility, which educates cadets to join the United States Air Force. Individuals who graduate from the institution are awarded a Bachelors of Science degree after completion of a four-year training program, and they join the force as second lieutenants. It is one of Colorado’s top tourist attraction sites, and it attracts about 1 million visitors annually.
The most famous attraction at the Colorado-based US Air Force Academy is its spectacular chapel. It is 150 feet tall, and it is designed to suit individuals of different faiths. The chapel is a steel, aluminum and glass structure that has 17 pinnacles. It cost 3.5 million dollars to construct and its furnishings, liturgical accessories, pipe structures and embellishments were offered as donations from individuals, foundations and Easter offerings that were collected from various Air Force bases.
The stunning chapel has four divisions that are built to suit the four spiritual faiths which are the Catholic, Protestants, Jewish and the Buddhist. It also has an all-faith hall that Muslim cadets and individuals from other religions use for worship. Every faith has its entrance to the chapel to avoid interruption during worshiping times.
The Air Force Academy chapel was lately designated by the CNN as of America’s most historic churches. Anyone who is around Colorado can visit the place. The academy opens as from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, and the visitor’s center is open to the tourists from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The site is close to the Colorado Springs, which has many other interesting places to visit such as the Manitou Springs Zip line and 4x4 Adventure, the Gardens of the Gods Foothills Jeep Tour, and the Broadmoor Soaring Adventure Zip-Line Tour.
