About the South Carolina AquariumThe South Carolina Aquarium is in the beautiful historic city of Charleston. The aquarium looks over the beautiful Harbor area making their rehabilitation center for the sea turtles an easy way to release them back into the wild. The Aquarium features over 5,000 animals. As you witness these majestic and beautiful creatures, learn how you and your families can protect them and make the ocean, a clean and healthy place for these animals to live. During your time at the aquarium, you will experience tons of amazing exhibits available to learn about different creatures, see them up close, and in some instances touch and feed certain animals. While at the South Carolina Aquarium you will discover a world full of wildlife, water, and wonder!
Enjoy an incredible and intimate journey looking at many native plants and animals to South Carolina through the family fun-filled aquarium that takes you from the deep blue oceans to the rocky mountain ranges.
Mountain Forest- Enjoy tons of North American species at this exhibit featuring bald eagles, otters, and fish, while seeing beautiful waterfalls and streams.
Piedmont- This exhibit features an up-close look at crappies, bass, and many other animals from the foothills region.
Coastal Plain- Make the beautiful mashers and swamplands come to life at the Coastal Plains exhibit with animals such as rattlesnakes, alligators, and tons of vegetation from the area including cypress trees to see.
Kids Coast- Children will love this exhibit featuring hands-on interactive activities to enjoy that focuses on wildlife and keeping their habitats, and out water, clean.
BricksALIVE- This Lego Brick exhibit features over a dozen animal sculptures put together with small Lego's for an incredible sight to see for your kids.
Saltmarsh Aviary- The Saltmarsh Aviary exhibit is home to many beautiful creatures including pufferfish, diamondback terrapins, and herons. This area also includes a massive 6,000-gallon tank filled with stingrays.
Touch Tank- The touch tank is perfect for children and adults to get a hands-on experience with many creatures from the sea. Touch and feel many different species of wildlife including Atlantic Stingrays, crabs, sea urchins, whelk, and more.
Coast- This beautiful exhibit explores all the different species of fish living off the beautiful coastal city of Charleston.
Ocean- The Ocean exhibit is home to an unbelievable 385,000-gallon tank where you can see sharks, sea turtles, and more. During certain parts of the day, there are daily dive tours where you can watch divers interact with these beautiful animals.
Zucker Family Sea Turtle Recovery- This exhibit is for guests and is also used as a hospital for sea turtles as they help rescue and rehabilitate the sick and injured sea creatures so they can be released back into the wild.
Carolina Seas- This exhibit includes a 15,000-gallon tank filled with colorful species of fish that live off the coast around the beautiful reefs.
The Shallows- Enjoy feeding southern stingrays and cownose rays at The Shallows exhibit for a small fee from 9:30 to Noon.
Backyard Habitat- The Backyard Habitat exhibit features an educational garden featuring different ideas you can take home to enjoy in your very own yard. The garden area tends to attract beautiful wildlife including butterflies, birds, and insects.
