The two guided house tours that are included are the Edmondston - Alston House and the gardens and outbuildings of the Heyward - Washington House.

Edmondston – Alston House (1828)
This beautiful house is located at 21 East Battery Street. The Greek and Federal revival design of the home makes it one-of-a-kind for the area and has so much history within its walls. The house was built in 1825 by Charles Edmondston and did not have the Greek Revival style at all. It wasn't until 1837 when the house changed ownership that the house got the look that it has today. The new owner, Charles Alston, updated the architecture and has remained in the Alston family since that time. Much of the family's books, furniture, and other belongings remain in the home to this day. The stories of this family and their slaves live within these walls. Learn all about it on this tour!

Heyward-Washington House (1772)
This home was built in 1772 and was the townhome of Thomas Heyward Jr., one of the four South Carolina signers of the Declaration of Independence. It is called the Heyward-Washington House because, in May 1791, George Washington rented out the house during his week-long stay in Charleston. You will get to see the outside of this Georgian-style house and the gardens/outbuildings during this tour!
