Carriage Tour of Charleston's Historic District
Carriage rides of the Charleston historic district are fun because they move you slowly among all the old colonial homes that come from the Civil War era. The war started just off the coast at Fort Sumter, but the city remained largely untouched in the war. You can ride through that historic district now, and it is a lovely place to relax with your family and friends.
The carriage ride goes about as slow as you can imagine, and it helps people relax when they roll through the city. You can have a nice time taking pictures, and you get a nice look at how this city was put together a long time ago. Ask the carriage driver questions about the city, and let them show you how this city became such a beautiful showpiece for the antebellum movements.
Someone who wants to take this trip needs to be certain that they have enough tickets for everyone. They must get a ticket for everyone in their group, and they must ask for a carriage that is large enough or everyone in the group. You can set up this tour for any size clan, and you can have it last as long as you want.
The beauty behind the carriage tour of Charleston is that you can see the beauty of the town without doing any of the work yourself. You can get the tickets online, and they are much less expensive than other tours of the same style.
Riding the carriage through historic Charleston is a great way to rest after a long day of sightseeing, or you could use this tour to start your day right.
Our guests may check in at the Old Brick Barn on Guignard Street, or you can just look for the green carriage in line on Market Street. We ask that in order to ensure a timely departure that you please check in thirty minutes before your scheduled departure time. When it is time for the tour to begin, you will be picked up by a clean, sturdy, and comfortable carriage being pulled by one of our beautiful Percheron draft horses. All of our carriages are covered, so you won't have to worry about getting too much sun. Once everyone is on board, the tour will begin in the Historic Charleston City Market and will then cover about 20 to 30 blocks of the residential historic district. The tour will cover the history of Charleston and the Lowcountry, from the founding of the colony in 1670 on through to the modern city, which has been named one of the top travel destinations in the world. The tour will be narrated by an expert in local history, and will provide you with a wealth of information and better understanding of Charleston's pivotal role in the history of our nation. The main difference between the carriages is the experience of your tour guide, and at Classic Carriage our guides have an average of over 12 years of experience giving tours.
The tour will end at the Old Brick Barn on Guignard Street, the oldest active stable in the city of Charleston. You are welcome to explore the barn after the tour, and you can even say hello to your horse while he gets his water break. There really is no better way to experience Charleston!
