If you are looking to get involved in or merely have an interest in environmental affairs, the Wetlands Institute near Atlantic City, New Jersey, is your place to be. The Wetlands Institute is a nonprofit organization who's mission is to promote the understanding and appreciation of New Jerseys coastal ecosystem through research and an array of amazing projects and activities for those who visit.
The institute has many self-guided exhibits and activities. These attractions teach the visitor about the importance of marshlands and the animals who dwell there. As you move through the Institute, you learn about one wetland creature after another through a series of interesting exhibits. Eventually, you will come to everyone's favorite, the Touch Tank, where you are encouraged to touch real life wetland creatures such as crabs and sea stars. But the learning doesn't stop at the main building. The institute also features Salt MarshTrail and elevated walkway where you can get an up close look at nature in action as you watch costal birds feed in their natural environment.
New events are scheduled monthly so be sure to check out their calendar to see what fascinating lectures and exhibits you can check out when you're in town. And if you're looking for a cause worthy way to celebrate your birthday or even get married, call the institute to see how they can help make it extra special.
