Winter Scenic City Tour of Anchorage
Anchorage is cold for most of the year, and the winter scenic tour of the city lets you see how beautiful it is, how the snow expands in a ring around town, and how you can get the best experience. Alaska beckons you when you are in the area, and you will see wildlife that you cannot find in any other place.
The beauty of this city is apparent when your tour begins, and it helps you have a lovely time with the people in the tour group. The tour guide shows you the interior parts of the city as well as the outskirts where the scenery is beautiful. You get to take pictures, and the group begins to see wildlife the farther out you move from the center of town.
The tour allows you to look back on the city and see how lovely it is. You are shown the places that are the most lovely, and you are shown some spots that you might want to visit in the future. This is the perfect tour to take when you are in Anchorage because it gives you a nice overview of the city.
The tour has tickets and a general coverage map online. You must look at that map before coming, and you could buy tickets for everyone before your trip starts. This is the best way for you to have fun in Anchorage and actually learn the city.
The trip that you take should include this tour because it helps you feel your best and see this city in a new way during winter.
Your tour begins at our local tour office. Then it's off to the historic Port of Anchorage and Ship Creek area where the city was born. Here, you'll learn about Anchorage's colorful pioneer history, our early tent city, what life was like here before the age of modern conveniences and how Anchorage got it's name.
Next, travel past Bootleggers Cove, stopping for a visit to Earthquake Park, where you'll learn about the perils of living on the Pacific Ocean's 'Ring of Fire'. See places where the ground liquefied and massive landslides occurred during the biggest earthquake in US History and 2nd largest earthquake ever recorded worldwide.
Next, you'll visit Lake Hood, the busiest seaplane base in the world - watch some of Alaska's finest bush pilots splashland or take to the sky, outbound for nearby wilderness areas.
The Chugach Mountains is the last and finest stop. Experience Anchorage from the place locals go for stunning vistas and beautiful sunsets. The Chugach State Park area is home to many Alaskan animals including the Alces alces gigas, otherwise known as the Giant or Alaska Moose! A short walk to the overlook provides beautiful views of the city of Anchorage and the Chugach Mountains, where more snow falls than anywhere else in the world.
