With an estimated 1.6 million square feet of space, the Anaheim Convention Center is the largest of its kind on the West Coast. The fact that it is located across from Disneyland Resort makes it a popular destination for conventions. Even more, the convention center is easily accessible it is near three major freeways.
The convention center is located at the end of a pedestrian plaza that is lined with palm trees and is in easy walking distance from nearby Hilton and Marriott hotels. The plaza itself can accommodate outdoor events and crowds up to 2,500 people. The exhibit floor itself is over 800,000 square feet in size. The convention center is currently going through renovations that would add another 200,000 square feet to the complex as well upgrading its loading docks and parking.
The convention center originally held a basketball arena when it was first constructed in 1967. It also was used as the wrestling venue for the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. One of the biggest annual conventions held at the complex is BlizzCon, a convention by Blizzard Entertainment which created the multi-player online game World of Warcraft. Since 2009, Disney holds its D23 Expo biannually for its fans to experience.
Given its large capacity and its location, the Anaheim Convention Center is a popular venue for conventions along the West Coast. With the complex in the Anaheim Resort District, the convention center is close to all of the Disney theme parks. A large array of hotels and restaurants are also within walking distance from the complex.
