Turquoise Guided Museum Tour
You are coming to New Mexico to have an experience of a lifetime, and you cannot do that unless you have come to the Turquoise Museum. You might be amazed at what you see, and there are docents who will take you on a tour to see everything from the painting to the sculptures and everything in between.
The museum has many wonderful displays that you will be shocked by, and you should start looking over these things and taking pictures where you want. The tour guide has a history in their head of all these items, and they have been a part of this museum's family for some time. They are trying to show you how they have collected all these works for their building.
The tour takes the kids to some of their own experiences so that they have a nice experience, and you should see if there are some stops where the kids will have their own fun while you consider a painting you just walked by.
The purpose of this tour is to get the family in the museum, to entertain the kids, and to teach the kids about art. The tour guide lets you know many things about the museum that you might like to know, and they leave you with an idea of the kind of art you want to see in your home.
Get your tickets online for much less money, and be certain that you talk to the tour guide as you pass by each of these items.
The tour of the museum begins by entering a mock mine tunnel. The entrance to the museum will open 15 minutes before each tour begins. Guests are requested to show up within this 15 minute time frame. Guests who fail to arrive will forfeit their tickets, and those tickets will be resold to a guest on the tour waiting list.
The museum's displays include:
- Turquoise from over 80 locations around the world
- Mining history and modern techniques
- Turquoise mineralogy/geology
- Turquoise grading
- World History
- American History
- Turquoise Imitations
- Mystical Qualities
- Hands-On Activities
After the guided tour, guests will be given the chance to enjoy the museum displays on their own.
The Turquoise Museum is family owned and operated since 1992. Three of the five generations still work at the museum on a weekly basis. Tours are guided by one of these three generations. Because of the Lowry/Zachary family's extensive experience, all of your questions will be answered and you will have a better understanding of "The World's Most Colorful Gem".
