Along this fascinating look into the geography and culture of Russia you’ll travel by cruise ship for eleven days, exploring both the big city sights and rural charms of the country for an immersive and adventurous journey that will uncover the rich history of this proud nation. Day 1 – Overnight Flight
Today will be spent in flight* as you make your way to Moscow, Russia.
Day 2 – Moscow, Russia
Once you’ve arrived in Moscow, Russia you’ll transfer to your cruise ship, situate yourself, and spend the evening becoming acquainted with the other passengers that will be sharing in the coming experiences with you.
Day 3 – Moscow, Russia
Day three will begin with a tour of the city of Moscow, a city with a population of more than nine million people! You’ll see Tverskaya Street, Red Square, Sparrow Hill and St. Basil’s Cathedral along the tour. For lunch, you’ll dine at the eclectic KGB Restaurant. After lunch, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the sights of Moscow on your own.
Day 4 – Moscow, Russia
You’ll continue your exploration of Moscow on day four with a ride on the Moscow Metro to the 15th century Kremlin. View the collection of Imperial treasures that is housed in the Armory Museum with sights ranging from crown jewels and royal scepters to ancient artifacts of war. Once you’ve returned to the cruise ship, it will be time to set sail with the night providing dining on Blini and Caviar, and live entertainment.
Day 5 – Uglich, Russia
Uglich will be your destination for the day! You’ll take to the streets of Uglich on a walking tour that will cover the Transfiguration Cathedral, Church of Prince Dimitry on the Blood and market. Afterwards, board the cruise ship and make your way up the Volga River past forests and rural villages.
Day 6 – Goritsy, Russia
You’ll arrive at Goritsy with the chance to take an optional walking tour of the area. Or if you’d prefer, simply take time to relax before boarding once more and traveling towards White Lake.
Day 7 – Lake Onega and Kizhi Island
Lake Onega, the second largest lake in Europe, offers beautiful scenes throughout the first part of the day as you journey towards Kizhi Island. You’ll take in sights including the magnificent Church of the Transfiguration, one of the more famed scenes of Russian architecture. Later, it will be back to the cruise ship to enjoy authentic Piroshki tea and converse with your travel partners.
Day 8 – Svir River
The majority of day eight will be spent cruising the beautiful, 119-mile Svir River. You’ll break along the journey to experience a riverside settlement for a rural look into Russia before continuing along the Svir River.
Day 9 – St. Petersburg, Russia
Day nine will see you taking to the Neva River en route to St. Petersburg. You’ll tour the canals of the city throughout the morning, with sights seen including Palace Sqaure, Nevsky Prospect, St. Isaac’s Cathedral and more. You’ll then visit the famed Hermitage Museum, located in the former home of Catherine the Second. From Da Vinci to Picasso, you’ll witness countless scenes of historic art at this truly regal museum.
Day 10 – St. Petersburg, Russia
On day ten, you’ll visit Tsarkoye Selo while still in St. Petersburg and experience Catherine Palace. You’ll have the opportunity to tour the palace’s many rooms before breaking for lunch at one of the town restaurants for an authentic taste of the local cuisine. The rest of the day will be open to do as you please.
Day 11 – St. Petersburg, Russia
Disembark the cruise ship for good in St. Petersburg, leaving with lasting memories of, and insight into, a culture rich in history and interest.
