Day 1: Newport, Rhode Island - Tour Begins
Your tour begins in the "Yachting Capital of the East," Newport, Rhode Island.
Day 2: Newport
You'll be traveling along Ocean Drive, heading to Bellevue Avenue, a beautiful representation of America's Gilded Age scene in the historic mansions lining the lanes. You'll tour Belcourt Castle and marvel at the antiques and artistic treasures within. You'll then enjoy a welcome dinner at The White Horse Tavern, the oldest tavern in America.
Day 3: Newport - Block Island - Newport
A one-hour cruise will take you to Block Island, just off the coast of Rhode Island. This 17-mile stretch of beach is surrounded by 365 fresh water ponds, 300 miles of stone wall, 32 miles of nature trail, and features a view of the Mohehan Bluffs that will enchant you with its Victorian charm. Have lunch at a local restaurant, peruse a few shops, or take a stroll along the beach.
Day 4: Newport - Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Spend some time relaxing in Newport before you start the next leg of your trip heading towards Cape Cod. You'll be stopping at Westport Rivers, a family-owned vineyard and winery on the way to a tour and tasting.
Day 5: Cape Cod
After breakfast, you'll be traveling up the peninsula of Cape Cod to head to the town of Chatham. The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History featuring exhibits about the marine life in Cape Cod and nature trails that lead through salt marshes and woodland areas will be one of your stops in town. Your afternoon is free to explore downtown Chatham's Main Street lined with antique shops, restaurants, and art galleries. The JFK Memorial and Museum will allow you to see depictions of several stages and aspects of the life of the one-time president.
Day 6: Cape Cod - Portland, Maine
Today's first stop will be "America's Oldest Seaport," Gloucester. Enjoy lunch at one of the numerous waterfront restaurants. Then, you'll be heading to Hammond Castle, former home of the "Father of Radio Control," John Hays Hammonds Jr. to tour the famous invention room where he built most of his devices. Your next stop will be Portland, Maine for a city tour including the Portland Head Lighthouse, a sight that inspired the great American Poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
Day 7: Portland
Your day begins with a two hour cruise around Casco Bay that will take you along the coasts of the Great Diamond Islands where you can view Victorian cottages. Next, you'll be visiting New Gloucester for the afternoon for a walking tour of the 5,000 acre Pineland Farm where you'll be able to participate in the craft of farming while learning about the agricultural history of this region.
Day 8: Portland - Boothbay Harbor - Portland
Spend this morning as you wish, either touring the city independently or taking a ride courtesy of the Main Narrow Gauge Railroad Company and then a tasting tour of Portland's biggest brewery where you can sample cream sodas and ales. Then, it's on to the "Boating Capital of New England," Boothbay Harbor. Drive along Ocean Point Road for a fascinating view of the coastline and then enjoy the rest of the afternoon exploring the town or sitting by the harbor and admiring the scenery. En route to returning to Portland, you'll be stopping at the Botanical Gardens. Tonight you will be enjoying a farewell lobster dinner.
Day 9: Portland - Boston, MA - Tour Ends
Your tour ends this afternoon with a drive back to Boston along Ocean Drive, through the town of Kennebunkport. Enjoy the memories you will have of New England's enchanting coastlines and scenic beauty.
