From the ancient and historic sights found throughout Peru to the unique ecosystems present in the Galapagos Islands area, Deluxe Peru & Galapagos presents a 19-day journey that will take you along the coast of South America for an adventurous journey that will simultaneously relax through tropical sights and excite through adventurous outings. Read on for a complete overview of what to expect throughout your time along Deluxe Peru & Galapagos.
Day 1 – Overnight Flight
Relax on your overnight flight to Lima, Peru.
Day 2 – Lima, Peru
You will have the morning of your first full day in Lima free to become situated and prepare for the journey ahead. This afternoon, you and your travel group will tour the government Palace, the Cathedral and San Francisco Monastery before settling into a welcome dinner.
Day 3 – Lima, Ica / Nazca Lines
Day three will take you along the Pan-American Highway to Ica, Peru’s wine capital. From Ica, board a flight to the Nazca Lines, unique geoglyphs drawn into the grounds of the Nazca Desert. Dinner this evening will be at your hotel.
Day 4 – Ballesta Islands Cruise, Lima
Enjoy a leisurely cruise to Ballestra Islands and view the unique wildlife of the area, as well as the ancient drawings scrawled into the Paracas cliff sides. Tonight, return to Lima.
Day 5 – Lima, Cuzco, and Sacred Valley
Day five will see you flying into Cuzco, Peru. From Cuzco, you will journey to the Sacred Valley, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara, and the Temple of Sacsayhuaman. This evening, you will settle into your lodging in the Sacred Valley.
Day 6 – Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu
The Inca Fortress of Ollantaytambo will be on the itinerary for today. After visiting the Inca Fortress of Ollantaytambo, you will board a train and travel through the Urubamba Valley en route to Machu Picchu.
Day 7 – Machu Picchu and Cuzco
You will have the choice of relaxing at your hotel or once again visiting Machu Picchu during the day. This evening, dinner and a performance of Andean Folkloric music will offer a unique, cultural experience.
Day 8 – Cuzco, Juliaca, and Puno
On day eight, Cuzco’s Cathedral and the Santo Domingo Monastery will be explored during the morning. Come afternoon, you will board a flight to Juliana and then visit the shores of Lake Titicaca in Puno.
Day 9 - Puno
You will continue to explore Lake Titicaca on day nine, visiting the island settings of Taquile Island and Uros Island.
Day 10 – Puno, Sillustani, and Lima
Juliaca and the ruins of Sillustani will be visited this morning before continuing on to the sacred pre-Incan burial grounds of the area. Once you return to Juliaca, you will board a flight to Lima and then enjoy a final diner in Peru.
Day 11 - Lima, Peru and Quito, Ecuador
Today you will be flying from Lima to Quito for the second half of your adventure.
Day 12 – Quito, Ecuador
Your first full day in Quito will offer an introductory tour into the city with visits to Independence Square, the San Francisco Church and Basilica.
Day 13 – Quito, Baltra Island and Santa Cruz
From Quito, you will fly to Baltra and then travel to Santa Cruz to check into the Finch Bay Hotel. From the hotel, you will find daily cruises to the Galapagos Islands, where you can visit the Charles Darwin Research Station.
Day 14 – Santa Fe Island
Day fourteen offers a full day of exploring Santa Fe Island and its many unique sites including the Opuntia Cactus Forest. Aside from the cactus forest, you will also experience beaches that are home to California sea lions, sea turtles and numerous spots for great snorkeling opportunities.
Day 15 – South Plazas and Punta Currion Island
You will continue island hopping on day fifteen with a visit to South Plazas and Punta Carrion Islands. Both settings are home to wildlife ranging from sea lions to iguanas to exotic birds, ensuring a picturesque view into the local ecology.
Day 16 – North Seymour Island and Las Bachas Beach
Today, escape to North Seymour Island and Las Bachas Beach as you continue to explore the unique wildlife prevalent throughout the region.
Day 17 – Santa Cruz, Baltra, and Guayaquil
You will depart the Santa Cruz area today and fly into Guayaquil. Check-in at your hotel for some much needed rest.
Day 18 - Guayaquil
It will be time to leave the area as you depart on an afternoon flight back to North America.
Day 19 – Back Home
You will finally arrive back in the States, but not without countless memories and mementos of your unique journey from Peru to the Galapagos Islands area!
