Canyon Country & Native American Experience
Zion National Park
Explore the rugged beauty, natural charm, and epic history of the southwest over seven days with the Canyon Country & Native American Experience. Throughout the journey you'll pay visits to Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, Grand Canyon and many other popular and impressive sites. Day 1 - Your travels through the southwest will begin in Las Vegas, NV. Your escort will be waiting at the airport, and once the entire party has arrived you'll depart to St. George, Utah, where you'll check-in at your hotel and attend a banquet to help acquaint you with the rest of the group. Day 2 - The first full day of your vacation will begin with a visit to Zion National Park, the oldest national park in all of Utah. Throughout the park, you'll find numerous natural setting ranging from cliffs and general rock formations to the occasional waterfall. From Zion National Park, you'll head towards the Utah Trails Village of Many Nations Culture Center for a look into the many different native cultures of the area. At the center, you'll find both demonstrations and hands-on opportunities for a variety of entertaining and educational experiences. Afterward, you'll stop for lunch and then visit Bryce Canyon National Park for more picturesque views. Finally, you'll retreat to nearby Ruby's Inn to rest. Day 3 - Day three will begin with a leisurely drive down Scenic Highway 12, famed for the natural sights seen from the road, as you journey towards the Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument. The monument totals 1.9 million acres, showcasing a wide variety of creme and rose colored cliffs and mesas. After visiting the monument, you'll head towards the town of Boulder and visit the Anasazi State Park. Here, you'll find ancient ruins once inhabited by the Indians of the area. Next, you'll visit Capitol Reef National Park and enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the petroglyphs, rock formations, and canyons. To wrap up the day, you'll also visit Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonlands National Park before heading to Moab and settling into the night's lodging. Of course, the night won't be completely over! For dinner, you'll enjoy barbecue along the banks of the Colorado River and then take a sunset cruise along the river itself. Day 4 - Day four will begin with a visit to Arches National Park. Throughout the park, you'll find a variety of amazing, natural sights. After spending some time exploring the 73,000-acre park, it will be back to Moab where you'll have time to yourself before visiting the Edge of the Cedars Museum for an in-depth look into the Anasazi Indians. After learning of the Anasazi, you'll pay a visit to the Navajo Nation for a chance to actually meet and interact with the indigenous culture of the area. Day 5 - On day five, your morning will be spent touring Monument Valley by 4-wheeler for an adventurous and unique sightseeing experience. Throughout the tour, you'll not only explore the natural sights of the park, but also learn about how many of the sights seen pertain to the culture of the Navajo. From Monument Vally you'll head to Lake Powell, break for lunch, and then take a relaxing cruise. Finally, you'll head towards the southwest's most popular natural wonder, the Grand Canyon. Once at the Grand Canyon you'll have time to explore the surroundings before checking into your hotel for the night. Day 6 - You'll awake early on day six for a morning view of the Grand Canyon, and then hit Route 66 as you head towards Arizona. During your scenic ride along Route 66 you'll briefly stop for lunch and then continue to make your way towards the city of sin, Las Vegas. Once in Las Vegas, you'll check-in to lodging on The Strip and then have the rest of the evening to explore as you see fit. Day 7 - Finally, it will be time for your look into the southwest to come to an end. The last leg of your travels will take you to the Las Vegas Airport where you'll say your goodbyes to the rest of the group and return home. From taking in the countless views of natural beauty that the southwest is noted and learning more about the culture that rose from the area, the Canyon Country & Native American Experience is sure to be an eye-opening trip on a number of levels.6 nights accommodations. |
