Take a week off and come visit California’s wine country. Enjoy some of the nation’s best food and drink as you descend upon the Napa Valley, Sonoma and other gastronomic paradises in search of great food and fine wine. See how wine, olive oil, and cheese are made as you tour California’s wine country.

Day 1: San Francisco, California
Arrive in San Francisco to begin a wonderful week in California’s wine country. Enjoy the “City by the Bay” with its ideal climate, legendary hills, vibrant culture and attractive waterfront.

Day 2: San Francisco
In the morning take a tour of the city’s best attractions including the Golden Gate Bridge and Twin Peaks. The rest of the day can be enjoyed at your leisure. Ride a cable car up and down the city streets, cruise the bay or take a stroll through Chinatown.

Day 3: San Francisco - Napa Valley - Santa Rosa
Head north across the legendary Golden Gate Bridge to an old-growth forest located in the Muir Woods National Monument. Stare up at 250 foot tall redwood giants that have lived for hundreds of years. Next, head into the fertile Napa Valley in the heart of California’s wine country. Visit COPIA: The American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts, where you can learn about food and wine pairing.

Day 4: Santa Rosa - Napa Valley - Sonoma - Santa Rosa
Enjoy a wine tasting at the Napa Valley Station, before boarding a restored 1915 Pullman train that will take you through the verdant Napa Valley. In the afternoon, take the time to explore Sonoma at your leisure.

Day 5: Santa Rosa - Bodega Bay - Santa Rosa
Begin the day at the Kendall Jackson Wine Center, where you can learn how wine is made. After a wine tasting, explore the gardens on the grounds. Next, pay a visit to Korbel, makers of champagne. Following your champagne tour and tasting, visit the small fishing village of Bodega Bay, best known as the filming site for Alfred Hitchcock’s movie “The Birds”.

Day 6: Santa Rosa - Glen Ellen - Santa Rosa
Start today at Glen Ellen where you will learn how olive oil is made. Later visit an artisan cheese shop, where you can taste wine’s favorite partner, cheese. Tonight’s farewell dinner will be in a fine restaurant where you can peer out over acres of lush vineyards as you toast to a wonderful vacation with your travel companions of the week.

Day 7: Sonoma Valley - Tour Concludes
Your tour concludes, but you will remember the palate-pleasing wines and food as you head home.

Explore Northern California’s wine country with a tour that takes you from the Bay Area into the Napa Valley.
