Balloon Fiesta/New Mexico's Land of Enchantment
Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta
Day 1: Arrival After arriving in Albuquerque, New Mexico you will visit the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center where you will learn the culture of the Pueblo Indians with exhibits and live demonstrations. Later in the afternoon you will check into the ClubHouse Inn & Suites for a two night stay. You will go down for you trip orientation and then have a Southwestern welcome dinner. Day 2: Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Be up early to see the "Mass Ascension" at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta and see hundreds of radiant hot air balloons as they move up to the bright blue New Mexico skies. You will also see many crats and food areas along the way. You will then take a guided tour of the city and its sights such as San Felipe de Neri Church, Rio Grande Park, the University of New Mexico, and many more. In the evening you will attend the "Balloon Glow" and see hundreds of hot air balloons illuminate the night sky. Day 3: Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway; Santa Fe Start off your day with a ride on the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway and see beautiful views then it's off to Santa Fe. You will see its large variety of Spanish and Indian Culture and enjoy the unique designs of the buildings, houses, and shopping locations. You will take an afternoon guided tour of Santa Fe and learn about its history and see sights such as the historic plaza, St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, and many more. Plan to stay two nights at the Sage Inn and eat a fantastic dinner at the Blue Corn Cafe. Day 4: Museums Get ready for a day full of museums of all types such as the Palace of the Governors, the Museum of International Fold Art, and the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture. You will have some free time to adventure through the many downtown shops near the hotel and make some discoveries of your own. Dinner will be rather fun and eventful with the Santa Fe "Dinner Quest". Day 5: Villages Today you will be visiting many ancient villages and learning some history behind them as you view the beautiful chapels and shops of master craftsmen. During the afternoon you will visit the Millicent Rogers Museum and Taos Pueblo which is home for over 1, 000 Tao Indians. Plan to stay for two nights at the Best Western Kachina Lodge and have dinner at Ogelvie's Plaza Restaurant. Day 6: Riding the Rails Rise and shine for a day full of riding the rails on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and travel between Antonio, Colorado, and Chama New Mexico. You will have spectacular views of the mountains, the Phantom Curve, and Toltec Gorge. You will also have lunch around mid-day and return to Taos for your "farewell" evening dinner and exhibition of traditional Native American dances. Day 7: Return Home Enjoy a hearty breakfast then head off to the Albuquerque airport where you will connect with your flights home. |
