On June 10, 2005, our 9 year old son, Brady, suffered a massive stroke that nearly took his life. Brady was a very healthy boy and for no reason, suffered a stroke which has left him disabled the rest of his life. Ever since, we have had mounting outpatient rehab costs and huge amounts of stress. I have a great job doing what I love, but Beth is a stay at home mom and never gets away from the reality. She can not seem to get herself up enough to begin to cope with the life altering change. Brady takes his life change in stride most days but gets very emotional when he can ride his bike and be normal. Beth has made the comment, If we could just get a break! Our financial situation is okay, but not the best so a vacation or a break is not in the cards and hasn't been since the stroke. Will, our 6 year old, has had to grow up quickly and he suddenly finds himself not being the baby anymore. Brady and Will have seen commercials for Disney World and Disney Land recently and I feel for them, because right now, I can not grant them that wish. My wife and 2 sons really could use a break, and the truth is I could use it myself. A dream vacation for the boys would be to Disney World to meet and see all the characters. Over a long weekend would be nice and we could even drive since we live in the Atlanta area. I appreciate those who read and vote for this contest to grant these dream vacations. Everyone that has submitted stories really deserve a break. Thank you for the opportunity to tell my story. |
