My Husband And I Lived Through It By The Grace Of God.

In 2002 my husbands job of 12 years closed the doors. We tried everything we could to save our home and good credit, but that didn't happen. We eventually moved out of our beautiful 2000sq ft home into my husbands mothers cold wet basement that floods everytime it rains. We put most things in storage as he would draw unemployment while trying to find another job. I myself had signed up for social security disability. Now, after 6 months or so, my hubby found a good job and worked for them about 2 weeks and his back went out. I took him to the ER one morning when he got up for work and couldn't move. They ran xrays and MRI's and came back to the room and told him he was done working that his back had had it, to sign up for social security disability. So he did.

Now we have no money coming in at all. We have all kinds of Dr. apts. Can't go anywhere or do anything. A big life changing experience. It was so embarrasing to live in that nasty old basement, but yet I was thankful to have a place to stay.
We went to welfare to apply for food stamps and medical.

We were denied, so we appealed the decision. Finally about a year later we went to court and won. Now by this time depression has set in.We were being sued for the hospital bill. You can't just go out and do the things you use to do.
So we had to start borrowing off of my hubbys mom for gas to go to the dr.and get meds before we were approved for medical.

I would keep a log of what we borrowed so we could pay her back on what we borrowed ASAP! She is the kind that doesn't mind giving it to you, but then you hear about it forever. I would go upstairs and fix meals daily for us all and clean up, clean house etc. Until one day when I was gotten on to for running to much dish water, or flushing the toilet to much, or not cleaning the house to her liking. I listened to this for 3 years.Talk about STRESS! My hubby and I were to the end of our ropes. We couldn't wait to hear from s.s.

Finally this last Dec,05 we got our s.s. and are now out on our own in our own place. We don't get alot of money, but it's enough to live on.
It's not enough to ever take a real vacation, but in my mind it is a vacation!

We have never been able to have a real vacation. After all of this I think we deserve one, don't you?

Our dream vacation would be real nice just to be able to get away from it all, to unwind and be able to relax and enjoy life for a while in a place we have never been to. To be pampered a little , eat new foods, try new things, see new things. Maybe get a massage. That sounds real nice!
