Adults: 1 Children: 4 Child Ages: 20,17,twins 9 Hometown: Dunkirk, MD

I share this story with all of you for the reason of reminding a family during hardship that there are people out there that still care and want to help.

On Saturday April 22, 06 the loving husband and father lost his year long battle with the mean, cruel disease of cancer. Although he never lost his faith in God above he faught very hard to not leave behind his wife of 20 years and their 4 children ( ages 20,17 and a set of 9 year old twins). There was no medical insurance to help with the escalating bills and very little life insurance to help cover the cost of his burial. At the age of 43 he never thought he would go before his time. He spent what money he made on his family.

I spent much time with the family over this past year in trying to help in some small way. What I found amazing during my time with them is that they never let the disease at hand bring them down to the point of it showing. The tried every single day to make their daddy smile or to remind him of the gifts that he had given them during their time together.

My cousin once told me that during the last week of her husbands life he took the 17 year old aside and although this child knew that his father might not survive long enough to attend his upcoming high school graduation come June 06 he told his father to not be afraid to die and that even though he couldnt fill his shoes he would step up and fill them.

This man so loved his family that he left them so many memories. One of the twins shared something with me that her daddy had taught her...She said did you know if you have a glass of soda and it fizzes to much to fill, you can stick your finger in it and the fizz goes away so you can get more in the glass? I didnt..but I do now and so do you. :-) She said this is a secret daddy taught me and I'll never forget it.

Help me remind these children that their daddy wont be forgotten and that its ok for them to smile and continue living. With the help of your vote we can give this family something again to smile about. Thank you! :)

This is such a touching story. I pray that God will always keep His arms around this wife and children. Loss of a loved one is very hard.
