Mother and Dad married at an early age, as did most couples back in the 50's. I don't recall my mother telling too much about their honeymoon, but I know they did have one. Some time passed and my dad joined the service that took he and my mother to Connecticut. Being a normal young couple, they set out together to a state where they knew no one and life-style and weather would be something that would bring a new challenge. They were there for 2-3 years, and upon coming home, faced living with my dad's parents until their home of nearly 50 years was built. My mother didn't complain as she worked, while my dad worked and went to night school to better himself. Over the years, my parents now retired, I know have put off doing and buying for themselves and have seen to it that not only their two daughters, but their two grandsons, have lived better than they did at our age, so I would like to give them this as a present for many thanks and for putting themselves very, very last in the need department. |
