Our fall and rise began 7 years ago. My husband had a very serious fall at work and shattered his knee cap. At the time of his unfortunate accident he was working 2 full time jobs, and I also worked full time. Our family's life was heading in a totally different direction. He became physically disabled and unable to work. This was and still is very devastating to my husband who besides being a retired Marine, was a very hard working man. I then became sole support of the family.

We were just getting by when the next disaster came, we became homeless and had to turn to Social Service for help. We had to live in a homeless family shelter. Affordable housing in Suffolk County is a very hard to find. I then went back to school so that I could get better job skills so that my family would not have to go through this situation again. Through the grace of God and a wonderful organization named HELP USA we were able to rent a house. Enlight of the situation of us acquiring a place of our own, and me getting a better job.

My husband's father just passed away. This is also devastating to us being all of us were close to him. It is most stressful on my husband with his health situation as it now. We have been trying to save for a vacation, but with things being the way they are. Your main concern must be your family's daily existence of survival.

A vacation to us has become that dream that one day we will take when things get better. My idea of a dream vacation is to stay in a nice place where my husband and I wouldn't have to cook, do dishes or make beds. My husband and children would enjoy going to the amusment park, swimming and just having fun as a family. My overall dream is to create memories that none of us would ever forget. This may be presumptuous but there are 3 locations if you were to grant our wish we would love to go in particular. Going through all that we have been through in the past several years. I know that they are families out there they have been through much worse then us and I just want to say keep praying and keep on believing that God will eventually make things better. We did and still do.
