I then knew I had to stand up and help out my mother-in-law. I took on the responsablity of caring for the newborn, because her husband could not afford to take time off from work. After about 6 months emily was able to come home but was restricted to a wheelchair, and she was working on learning how to talk again. But when you have 3 adults and someone in a wheelchair and 2 children living in a single wide trailer which could not fit a wheelchair was impossible. Luckily Emily sisters and the town heard about her story and stepped up to help her. A man donated some land to have a home built that was wheelchair ready, which answered one of our prayers. Soon after her family moved in there new home her husband could not handle that his once very active wife was now confined to a wheelchair and decided to pack up and leave. So myself and her then 20 year old son stepped up to help her out as much as we could. To make matters worse the father was blaiming the baby for the stroke and stopped seeing the children, and is not paying child support. Well after Emily dealt with her husband leaving her and her 2 children , she worked very hard in physical therepy and is now able to walk with a cane. A couple of years after her divorce was finally she met a man in his mid 30s . She was concerned about the age difference but they fell in love so that soon passed. A week before they decided he was going to move in with her and take ther relationship to the next level, we were all devastated. She went over to his home to pick him up to take him to meet some family that was in town. She walked in his home and didnt see him so she went in his bedroom and found he had passed away in his sleep. To this day they still don't know why. That was supposed to be a great weekend of meeting family members, which now turned into planning a funeral. Since that day it has been very hard for her to let any man get close again. Now this year in 2006 she suffers from bad headaches again and high blood pressure, which is very scary knowing that she already had one stroke. With her health not doing so well she wants to spend as much time with her family and do fun things. She keeps telling me how bad the kids want to go to Disney Land but the funds just won't allow it. Plus she can't walk very far with out getting tired so she wants myself and her son to go, to make sure the kids have fun. We are all trying to save but everytime we get a little money saved something happens where we need to use the money. If you pick her to go on a vacation you would be making a miracle happen for them children. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and please help make their dreams come true. |
