Located at Wisconsin Dells Parkway, Tom Bartlett's Robot World and Exploratory adds a world of meaning to the adage, 'learning can be fun'. And this it does with the array of interactive exhibits that it houses, encouraging visitors to participate and gain hands-on experience, while also benefiting from the world of information that they gain.
The showstopper at the Exploratory is undoubtedly the genuine MIR space station module. At a magnificent length of 43 feet, the module was designed by the Russians as a part of their space probe in 1997, and is one of the only two on public display. Visitors can trace the journey of the module as it rose to space, orbited Earth and then disintegrated on its way back.
The Exploratory also houses over 150 interactive exhibits which range from complex puzzles using the simplest of blocks to computerized toys that represent virtual reality and simulation at their most spectacular. You can perch atop the High Wire Sky Cycle and peddle away on the one inch thick cable, at a precarious height of 12 feet. Or you can even test your mechanical skills with the hydraulic backhoe and scoop up colored balls by the dozens. The Visual Sports Center lets you indulge in a game of hockey and basketball and even experience weightlessness with the GavBall. Besides these, there are also a host of touch screen computers which are loaded with intriguing games and sports.
The Robot World and Exploratory is open all through the week and you can stop by from 9 am to 9 pm in the summer months and 10 am to 4 pm, in spring, fall and winter. Tickets are priced at $11.50, with special discounts for children and elders. You can even avail of group discounts if you call the exploratory prior to your visit.
