VACATIONS MADE EASY : DESTINATIONS : WISCONSIN DELLS : EVENT CALENDAR
Columbus Day in Wisconsin Dells, WI
If you plan to spend Columbus Day in Wisconsin Dells make sure you have reservations. In Illinois, children have the day off. This means there are plenty of activities and plenty of people wandering around looking for things to do. With autumn in the air, you might consider packing the right type of clothes. What you may do may well depend on what you have to wear. You can probably rule out visiting any of the famous Wisconsin Dells water parks. Yet, there is still plenty to see and do both indoors and out in and around the community.
Columbus Day often occurs around the time of the Autumn Harvest Fest. Enjoy the sights and smells of a Fall Fair. Taste the food and sample the freshly made local products. See the exhibits on display. This will give you a different picture of the community. The trees will all be sporting their colorful leaves at this point. You can drive through the area. You can also take a hike through the wilds and along the paths of Upper Dells Glacial Park. Yet, one of the best ways to view the local fall color is by train. Hop aboard the Riverside and Great Northern Railway for a jaunt through the countryside. Look down at the river and up at the trees in all their finery. Afterwards, have a snack at any of the local restaurants before wandering through the museums. Maybe, you can make time for the American UFO Sci-Fi Museum, the Circus World Museum, Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, Dells Auto Museum or the Museum of Historic Torture Devices.
