Independence Day in the Windham, New York Area
Independence Day in Windham, New York offers some old-fashioned American community activities. This town sits in the midst of the breath-taking natural scenery of the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River Valley. But, on Independence Day you want to be right here in Windham for the Windham Arts Alliance Annual Sand Castle and Sculpture Contest. It is held at C.D. Lane Park in Maplecrest. There are four age groups up to age 18, but all are awarded a prize just for entering! Local artists provide instruction at Sand Sculpture Clinics. You should wear your swimsuit and come prepared for a day of summer fun. It lasts all morning, and you can get some rest that afternoon or take a ride and enjoy the area beauty before you head out for the 4th of July Parade in downtown Windham. It always starts at 7:00 pm for an old-fashioned Independence Day and a great summer evening with your family.
