Step away from the streets of Colonial Williamsburg and into the rare natural environment of York River State Park. Located just 11 miles west of Williamsburg, this 2,550 acre park boasts a rare collection of both freshwater and saltwater marine & plant life along the York River.
The park is an anglers delight, with fantastic largemouth and bluegill fishing at Woodstock Pond, and a mix of freshwater and saltwater fish - including catfish, croaker, striper, and crab - are located at Croaker Landing on the York River. Canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, jonboats, and bicycles are available for rent, while guided canoe and kayak trip are also available at the visitor center. An on-site gift shop is also located at the visitors center, while snacks and drinks are available at a vending area.
During Estuaries Day Williamsburg offers visitors a number of activities to help raise understanding and awareness about estuaries in Virginia and around the world.
