In the quaint little town of Surry, the Smith's Fort Plantation was built in the mid 18th century and is named for Smith's Fort, built by Captain John Smith as a retreat in the event of an Indian attack. The home was owned by Jacob Faulcon and his family. Today, it is open to tour and is decorated in the fashions and appointments of the time.
Visitors will enjoy this historical site which is close to the James River. The grounds are ideal for a stroll through the Virginia countryside. Don't miss the Old Virginia Christmas and Festival of Crafts if you are in the area during the holidays.
