At 8,000 sprawling acres, Newport News Park is one of the largest city parks in the United States! The park features more than 30 miles of hiking and walking trails, and wildlife watching is excellent with bountiful deer, foxes, raccoons, beavers, otters and other critters living in the park. Visitors who can't fit in all of the fun in one day enjoy camping at one of 188 campsites the park, which include electric & water hookups, heated showers, flush toilets, 24-hour security, store, and more!
Two large lakes offer boating and fishing opportunities, and canoe, rowboat & paddleboat rentals are available. Other amenities at the park include bicycle rentals, an arboretum, playgrounds, 20 picnic shelters, model airplane flying field, mountain bike trail, archery range, nature programs and more!
