As the only large antebellum mansion on the Virginia peninsula, Lee Hall Mansion offers a unique look at life during the Civil War. The home was completed in 1859, although the Lee family fled the home just three years later as Civil War battles began to rage along the peninsula.
Although the family later returned, Lee Hall Mansion was used in 1862 as a headquarters for Confederate Major General John B. Magruder. Later that year, a small battle was fought on the grounds of the home. Today, visitors can tour the home and its grounds, and several special events are frequently scheduled here throughout the year!
