Remember Me When Freedom Comes

Through the eyes of an enslaved man and the slave quarter community, you will learn how field slaves survived the institution of slavery in colonial Virginia through stories, songs and dance. Guests are seated in the Hennage Auditorium for a participatory experience featuring recollections of Old Paris. A question and answer session follows. Program is based upon historical research and explores how enslaved people developed survival techniques to cope with the daily emotional and psychological pressures of human bondage. Featured character is an African named Paris or Maduka as he was called before he was captured.
