Williamsburg Weather and Packing Advice

With its proximity to the Atlantic, the Williamsburg weather is usually temperate with cooler temperatures in the winter. This coast city is an excellent place to visit year round. With highs ranging from a cool mid 40's in the winter and lows starting at the low 30's to a very mild low 70's and highs in the 80's in the summer. Average snowfall is around seven and a half inches each year. SPRING Springtime in Williamsburg is stunning with its cherry trees in bloom and the greens of the trees showing through. Many plants are showing signs of blooming and the area is waking from the winter. The days are warm and the evenings are just a bit cool requiring a light jacket. With average highs in the upper 50's and lows in the upper 40's to mid 60's, this is a great time to visit the colonial sites or visit the outdoor parks. SUMMER Summer in Williamsburg is a pleasant change for hotter climates. With its trees in full leaf it is an excellent time to visit the golf course, the water and theme parks or The Virginia Living Museum. The days are pleasantly warm with highs in the low to upper 80's and lows ranging from the mid 50's to the low 70's. FALL With the gorgeous foliage visible all around and balmy days and brisk nights, this is the time of year to see the sights and visit the many shows in the area. With daytime highs from the low 80's to the upper 60's and lows from the mid 60's to mid 50's the weather is just right for just about every activity in the area. Just remember to bring your jacket or sweater for the cooler night air. WINTER With highs in the upper 40's to upper 50's and lows in the lower 30's to the lower 40's the weather is brisk and refreshing. With the light snow it puts you in the frame of mind for Christmas shopping at the area's abundant outlet and craft malls. PACKING The climate around Williamsburg is marked by moderate summers and cool evenings. There are variable weather conditions at other times during the year, most with cool evenings that may require a light jacket. There are periods of almost constantly changing weather and periods when the weather is stable. Good preparation and common sense is a good rule of thumb to follow.

This is a great place to visit. Plan at least 2 hours for you visit. We had a great time and it was fun for the whole family
